Female Hair Loss: What Are The Best Hair Loss Products?

For women, the hair truly is their one crowning glory.  This is why it can be very devastating once this crown loses its lustre or worse, just plain gets lost.  Although hair loss is a natural process, it can become troublesome when it becomes permanent, causing damage to aesthetics and self-esteem.  However, there are several products that are especially designed to address female hair loss.  Get to know what they are and how they work.

Minoxidil

By far considered the most effective product for female hair loss, Minoxidil is currently one of the few solutions that have passed the gold standard used in clinical trials.  This FDA-approved treatment comes as a 2%-strength topical solution, which is recommended for women.  The stronger 5% solution, although often prescribed for men, has also shown significant promise when used by women.

How effective is it?  In a study that lasted 48 weeks involving about 140 patients, Minoxidil users showed consistent improvement over patients who used a placebo treatment.  The downside is that this product works only with continued use.  Once it’s stopped, so will its good effects.

Hair weaves, wigs or hairpieces

For some women, the hair loss problem may sometimes occur on average rate but because their hair is so fine or thin, the loss seems more extensive than it truly is.  Although these products may provide a temporary solution, they can fix the problem of aesthetics immediately.  They are also one of the safest and most affordable solutions.

Hair replacement

Hair transplantation is more permanent but it also carries with it certain risks.  These include minor scarring, especially in the donor area and might also expose the patient to minor to moderate skin infection.  It can also be expensive but the results are more often aesthetically pleasing.
