Many people seek hair loss treatments especially as they grow older, which is not surprising for a society that places a great deal of value on appearances and youth. Women, especially, do not wish to undergo hair loss, and many women, whether their hair loss is brought about by hormones, medication, or genetics, will seek treatment immediately and even resort to unapproved drugs in desperation. However, there are several modes of treatment that are available to women depending one their hair conditions.
If the hair loss is genetic, as in female pattern baldness, then the only way to alleviate it is through medication. Doctors will recommend certain drugs that are known to combat pattern baldness in women. Some forms of baldness, however, can be stopped, and at early stages, only by steroid injections to the scalp. Both these treatments are available at clinics; some medications are available over the counter, and with some massaging of the medication onto the scalp, hair loss can be slowed down.
If the hair loss is due to a poor diet, then treatment will consist of returning whatever it was that was lost in the diet in order to stop hair loss and allow hair to grow once more. In most cases, hair loss or thinning may be due to a loss of proteins in the diet, or even under-nutrition. Restoring proteins in the form of meat and legumes may be needed; or more nutrition, especially vitamins E and the B complex group, may be restored.
Lastly, hair loss may be due to hormonal problems. In this case, treatment will consist of a series of hormones that will help the defective organs function again. Tied to hair loss are problems with the reproductive organs and the thyroid gland. Women are especially prone to hair loss due to hormonal imbalances, which can sometimes occur during pregnancy. However, pregnancy, once it ends, will also lead to hair growing back.
These are only a few treatments that you may want to consider. For more information, talk to your doctor and do your own research on treatments for female baldness.
